Are you Underfeeding Yourself?

Are you Underfeeding Yourself?

Did you ever consider that under-eating could be causing your health struggles? Being under-fed probably means that you are under-nourishing yourself. This could result in deficient intake of the nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. that your body needs to function well every day. When you are young you can more readily get away with this strategy. If this has been your approach to food, as you age you may find that this no longer works for you. The cumulative effects can add up and take a toll on your overall health.

Signs You are Underfed

  1. Low energy
  2. You can’t seem to lose weight (even with the calorie restriction)
  3. Brain fog
  4. Blood sugar spikes (swings between high and low energy)
  5. Mood swings
  6. Inability to fall or stay asleep
  7. You have digestive and bowel issues

How to fix it

Many factors come into play, including your physical activity, stress levels, sleep adequacy, history of chronic disease, and other health factors. Everybody is different, so it’s important, with guidance, to experiment and see what works best for you.

Determining the exact ratio of protein, fats, and carbohydrates your body needs can be a little tricky. We recommend you seek out a functional medical nutritionist, (like those at the Ultra Wellness Center https://www.ultrawellnesscenter.com/nutrition/ ), to help you determine where you are and what your body specifically needs. Bleu Laurel is a perfect partner in this process. We can meet you where you are at with your skills in the kitchen to cultivate recipes supporting your wellness goals.

At Bleu Laurel we are passionate about learning and sharing information on all things wellness. Our blog is a place for us to share information on things we love learning about including food, fashion, restorative retreats, personal development, and fun ways to get your body moving. If there is a particular subject you want to see, please email us at admin@bleulaurel.com.
